Glasgow & Edinburgh Hen Party Teacher - Jill

Jill

Jill is 30 and teaches burlesque classes, pole dancing lessons, can-can parties, cheerleading parties, Dirty Dancing parties and Chicago parties in Glasgow.
Different day job: Pre-school teacher
How long have you been dancing: Since childhood
Why did you started teaching dance: I started working as a stage dancer (more like burlesque performance with themed shows) and lap dancer in 1998 before pole dancing came to Edinburgh properly - One day, the owner of the club installed a huge stage and pole. We all came in to work and didn’t what to do with it!! LOL. A couple of girls had done a bit of pole before, so I watched and copied! I had a slight advantage, I’d been a dancer and gymnast/coach since I was a kid, so picked it up fairly easily, began copying from other girls and invent my own moves. I WAS HOOKED! 03-05 I studied performing arts and dance in Edinburgh. My dancing job helped me through college. I saw an ad in ‘the Stage’ paper and noticed 'pole dancing instructors required'. I thought YES! I didn't want to be a lap dancer forever. Most jobs in ‘the stage’ are London-based so I thought why not? I called what turned out to be POLESTARS! They were holding lessons in London and Brighton but were looking to expand. So... we set up Scotland and the rest in history. It is something I never thought I would be doing this time 7 years ago. I am having so much fun! I am learning new things all the time and have even pinched moves from my students! I am learning from them all the time. So, thank you POLESTARS.
Why you love teaching at Polestars: Meeting like minded women who want to develop their confidence, skill and finding the fox within! Steering pole dancing away from its bad rep and making it more acceptable and accessible to women! I have seen Polestars grow and go from strength to strength over these last few years.
